Brewtopia Events' 11th Group Trip to...
The Best Beer Places in
NEW ORLEANS

- June 2007 -

Owen Ogletree has enjoyed taking friends on beer tours of New Orleans since 1996.  This is a photo album of our most recent trip to The Big Easy.  The group was comprised of (L-R in photo above) Don Beistle, Owen Ogletree, Thel Melton, Nick Allen, Ritesh Patel, Jeff Rapp and Sachin Patel (photo by Kerri Allen).  The trip was extremely fun, and the group was impressed with how well the tourist spots in New Orleans had recovered after Hurricane Katrina.  The food, music, atmosphere and wonderful places to enjoy fine beers in New Orleans are delightful.  Let the good times roll!

The group arrives at the Abita brewery across Lake Pontchartrain.  Yes, it was as hot as it looks.

Mark Wilson, Abita brewmaster, addresses the group in the Abita tasting room.  A new tasting room is about to begin construction very soon.

Abita offers free glasses of their beers before and during scheduled free tours.

Post-Katrina Abita t-shirt.

Bulldog Pub on Magazine Street has an awesome new beer tap water fountain on their side patio.

Beer and crawfish lead to deep, philosophical conversation at the Bulldog.

Ritesh and Sachin kick back at Cooter Browns.

Sachin slams the first raw oyster of the day at Cooter Browns.  Yum!

Kerri made Nick wear boob beads.  Oh, the humanity!

Thel scores a pitcher of Abita Andygator at Cooters.

The group enjoys the French Quarter Voodoo Museum.

Dinner and beer were fabulous at New Orleans' famed Crescent City Brewhouse.

Jeff came fully prepared in case our car broke down on the Lake Pontchartrain causeway during the drive back from Abita.

Manager and bartender of the new Beer Fest beer bars on Bourbon Street are pictured above.  These places have a good beer selection, despite the bar's promotion of beer chugging funnels.

The group checks out the chalkboard beer list at d.b.a on Frenchmen Street.

Musician and singer at Sean Kelly's Pub in the French Quarter.  Sean Kelly's is the best Irish pub in the city.
